Mucho Arigato Interview w/ Roger Hinds on Boardroom Show Site

Mucho Arigato recently sat down with legendary Surfboard Maker Roger Hinds. I was able to get a great batch of photos throughout the afternoon. Another great element of my time with Roger is that the Boardroom Show website is running my interview with Roger. 

I spent an afternoon at the Roger Hinds Surfboards factory here in Southern California. I peppered our conversation with photos and simple observation of watching the master at work. When Roger works, he exudes a calm that seems to permeate his factory and store front. He's known for his start to finish approach to surfboard making. He, with his own single set of hands, does phases of the board build. Roger shapes, sands, polishes and glasses. 

He learned the art of surfboard making when he moved to the North Shore of Oahu in the early 1970s when surfing was evolving faster than the surfers and shapers and builders could keep up. I don't know if it's the location, the era the social upheaval (hippies, vietnam, native Hawaiians, etc) that had the biggest effect on his very even-keel approach to making surfboards. 

He makes boards for all types of clients: big wave riders, ladies, old dudes, young shredders and that kook that lives next door to you. Check out the interview. I think you'll like it.
