I don't gig any more. I used to be a hip hop / r&b drummer. I gigged in Tokyo, LA, Austin, blah blah blah. Those days are behind me now. Now I love to sit in sessions more centered around Malinke or Cuban patterns. It's hypnotic and people truly enjoy playing it. Beach goers love it too.
Our sessions are less drum circle and more "session". I say that because it's not a free for all. Some drum circles in LA and OC can get like that. Those are fun for people that just want to play loudly and have fun. Our sessions have complex layers and are geared to be free and organized at the same time. Below are a few quick recordings of some impromptu jams we did this past weekend.
